what is caregiver coaching?
Our caregiver coaching model combines elements of applied behavior analysis (ABA) with acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to create a customized curriculum for you to best support your Autistic child.
Every child’s needs are different, so each each curriculum is uniquely designed around your personal and family values.
This way, you can provide your Autistic child with the best care tailored to their—and your—needs.

How caregiver coaching works
Caregiver coaching is designed to be flexible enough to fit your family’s needs and support you as the one living with your child. Here’s how our coaching model works:
You will…
- Schedule a consultation with one of our certified BCBAs.
- Meet with your BCBA and discuss concerns, needs, or questions regarding your child.
- Review your family values with the BCBA so they can develop your unique caregiver coaching curriculum.
Your BCBA will…
- Provide one-on-one coaching to adjust your caregiver style to match your family values
- Share available resources that can help you best support your child
- Create individualized strategies to support you with your child’s behaviors.
Caregiver coaching FAQ
Does My Child Need a Diagnosis for Us to Do Caregiver Coaching?
- Nope. Caregiver Coaching is for families who are:
- Underdiagnosed
- Seeking diagnosis
- Already diagnosed
- Trying to delay diagnosis and are looking for some extra support to get through a tough spot.
Is Caregiver Coaching Right for My Family?
We aim to support all families with Autistic children, regardless of where they are at in their journey. Caregiver coaching may be right for you if:
- You routinely struggle knowing how to respond to your child’s behaviors.
- You’ve struggled to get into traditional ABA therapy.
- You find that ABA seems to be “too much” for your child or family.
- With the right training, you believe you can do a better job supporting your child than an insurance-provider.
What’s Expected of Me During a Caregiver Coaching Session?
- Come ready to learn and have your mind changed about the way you interact with your child.
- Participate in therapy exercises, role play scenarios, discussions about your current parenting/caregiving practices
- Take some simple data on what you’re doing now, as well as things that we agree on to change about the way you interact with your child
What Will My BCBA Do During Our Session?
- Ask questions and gather information about your child, the way you interact with them now, your values as a family/caregiver, and the behaviors you are hoping to get help with.
- Create a plan for changes you can make in your caregiving to positively impact the behaviors you are concerned about.
- Follow up with you about the behavior plan and collaborate with you on adjustments to make using the plan realistic for you and your family.
